The Scientist, Snoop Dogg, Matrix & Futurebound, Foxes, Cabin Studios, E-Skeemo, Urban Knights and a House Mixtape.

Good to be back. As promised, we’re back and we’ll be posting regularly from now on again. We’ve stopped the whole radio thing as it was sucking up too much of our time. The mixtapes will be continued though. As a matter of fact, there’s one waiting for you at the bottom of this post. Here’s the stuff that we liked in the past week:

Petals
Dan Pugsley is a UK based producer from Bristol, living in Sheffield. On his Soundcloud and Youtube pages he goes by the name of The Scientist. Needless to say, his productions are clever. They’re usually pretty tranquil, melodious and we’ve spotted quite a few classical instruments while listening to his tracks. The latest brew coming from his laboratory is called ‘Petals’, it will give you a pretty good idea of how his music sounds. Be sure to check out his Soundcloud page, everything he puts up there is free.

Ooohweeee
In the past months (when we should’ve been checking for new music but didn’t) quite a few presents were dealt out by mr. Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. himself. Snoop Dogg uploaded a whole list of free music, both instrumentals and full tracks. He’s encouraging fans, friends and innocent bystanders to remix/ put verses on the beats he uploaded. Which is a great thing and a shining example for a lot of artists. One of the free tracks is an unreleased project titled ‘Ooohweeee’.

All I Know
Liverpool’s Good-Guy-Record-Label Viper Recordings is giving away free copies of ‘All I Know’, a track signed to them by Matrix & Futurebound featuring Luke Bingham. It’s not quite the 320kbps studio recording, that’s what they are selling on iTunes. But it’s still an agreeable 256kbps radio rip from BBC Radio 1. Very good track, we like to pretend the BBC radio hosts are just part of the track. I’m sure we’ll just know their little pieces of monologue by head not too far from now.

Let Go For Tonight
All by herself, Louisa Rose Allen is Foxes. A young singer from Londen who dropped out of school to make her own music. Last year she made a big splash on a lot of music blogs with her single ‘Youth’, which was released by Neon Gold Records (-And got a huge remix by the Adventure Club). Recently she premiered a new demo on Soundcloud called ‘Let Go For Tonight’. In it, she reveals herself as a potential Florence, without the Machine thing. Can’t wait for a studio version of this!

Untitled (E-Skeemau5 Unofficial Remix)
We’ve been listening to a few of Melbourne’s E-Skeemo‘s tracks on Soundcloud, sounds like he’s usually going for Electro, Dutch House and everything else that demands for non-top fistpumping. (Good quality music though, go check out his music!) But for this track the approach sounds different. As the track title implies, there’s a lot of Deadmau5 going on in this remix. Very enjoyable track that builds up slowly. Maybe the track could use some finetuning and mastering. According the the Australian producer, “..It’s an expression of my raw emotion”. Best excuse we’ve ever heard right after “My dog ate my FX presets”.

Pumped Up Kicks (Cabin Studios Cover)
Nathan Whiteman, a producer/musician from Lincoln (We’re guessing Nebraska) got together with some friends and recorded an acoustic cover of Foster The People’s ‘Pumped Up Kicks’. This probably already happened a gabillion times on Youtube. But still, this is on Soundcloud, the sound quality is awesome and he put it up for free grabs. Enjoy.

Midnight (Urban Knights Remix)
THe Finnish dj/producer ensemble Top Billin is giving away a lot of free edits lately. Go to their Soundcloud page for a full list of tracks. One of their most recent dancefloor tools is a remix by Urban Knights on Dj Shadow’s ‘Midnight’.

House Mixtape
Another edit from the Helsinki crew can be found in the latest House Mixtape we posted before the weekend. It includes stuff from Applescal, FS Green, Keenhouse, Bon Iver, SBTRKT, Marie Elliot’s kitten (who she calls Pinky), and lots more.
