Dead Prez, Seeed, Dark Phayd-r, Mindtalk, Seismix, Kanye West, Lloyd Banks, Duncan Gerow

Hip Hop Doctor
Any production fitted with the Dead Prez ‘Bigger Than Hiphop’ acapella imediately gains 3 points on awesomeness. So does this mashup of the Dead Prez Acapella and ‘Doctor’s Darling Riddim’ by Seeed. Can’t even remember the last time a Reggae track was featured here. Track was mashed by Dark Phayd-r and released on Thirsty Ear Mashups.

Never Enough
Some Liquid Drum and Bass here by Brittish (where else?) producers Mindtalk and Seismix. The track is called ‘Never Enough’ and I’m not sure where they got the vocals. But it’s surely effective.

Jesus Starts
When making mashups, the easiest way to go is probably to paste random hiphop acapella’s over instrumentals that are about the same beats per minute. Rap usually doesn’t have melody, so you don’t have to worry about false notes. I say usually, because some of these acapella’s do have a lot of melody in em. That’s why I can really appreciate Duncan Gerow’s latest mashup. It features Kanye West’s ‘Jesus Walks’ acapella, which has some melody lines in it. Gerow put the acapella on ‘Lloyd Banks – Start it up (instrumental)’. Both compliment eachother. It’s just too bad the acapella sounds like a compressed low quality version of the real thing.
