Took a few hours, but here’s everything you need to hear from past week in one post.
RAC touches down with another huge project. He remixes ‘Veranda’ by Cillie Barnes. Really cool to hear RAC taking such a band-like approach to this remix, as opposed to his many earlier Indie disco reworks. Hope there’s some punch a little further down the line though.
T&A Records did a remix contest on this, and the acapella is still available which is good news for remixers and mashuppeteers. The original still is best though, Tatiana Owens and DJ Ayres work out a cover on Barbara Tucker’s ‘Beautiful People’.
Furr is this new Brittish label, and the first free tracks coming from the Furrs are really really good. This Lushington track makes some great use of Lucy Pearl’s ‘Dance Tonight’. Be sure to follow!
Micky Valen sent in this remix he did on Lorde’s ‘Team’. Just sad that it’s only now that we’re able to get on this, but fantastic to see so many blogs jumped on it already. Beautiful rework, piano really fills a void.
French label Bambousek’s third release is a free LP titled ‘Happy New Rave’. Lots of amazing tracks on there, but this one takes the crown. Chevaliers Liqueur made their track ‘Satan Summer’ available for the compilation.
Duck House is an artist from Cardiff and to be honest, his new track ‘Automatic’ sounds like it could use some remastering. Even though it sounds a little drowned, lovely song with a beautiful instrumental track.
Usually mashups are cheap tricks. But sometimes there are these beautiful combinations that out-awesome perhaps even the original. This is definitely one of those mashups. Wekeed combined Lorde and Flume. This should get an official version with studio acapella’s and all.
Exciting debutants from the UK. One Bit is two guys who got inspired by acts like SBTRKT and T.E.E.D.. Their first track is titled ‘Cold’. Production sounds warm and round though. Got it’s debut on BBC Radio a few days ago.
New Templeton remix. In all honesty, pretty similar to some of his earlier work. But a good ensemble, and Blondfire’s ‘Walking With Giants’ acapella just comes out so well with this remix.
Mr. Belt & Wezol put out another free track, ‘Bwap!’. Comes from a free EP the guys are handing out after reaching their first 1000 followers on FB. Again, super solid Deephouse production. Whatever it lacks in musicality, it makes up for in attitude. Ace track!
Not posting a lot of Hip-hop, but this 20syl session is just too good. 30 seconds in, perfect evolving synthwork. 20syl is definitely one of those producers who make a genre interresting again.
Was not going to post this Redsparrow remix on Little Dragon’s ‘Little Man’, up until about a minute and a half into the remix. Real nice piano part right there, track really takes off from there. Good remix to compliment Little Dragon’s vocals.
