Cajoline, Silver Kilo, LIPS, Skiitour

In wonderful Christmas spirit, Juno and DjMag team up this month to bring happiness and free music to all. Here’s how you get their free tracks in just a few simple steps:

  1. Go to the Christmas coundtdown calendar.
  2. Select the track you like. You can only select today’s and yesterday’s track though. The rest is locked down again. You liked that track from two days back? Too slow.
  3. Like the track.
  4. No wait, the like button doesn’t work. Unlike that, or any previous track first.
  5. Like the track you’d like to have again.
  6. Hit ‘Download’.
  7. You’re at the Juno page for the track you wanted. Log in first. You’re new? register first.
  8. Go back to the calendar, select that track you wanted again, thank you.
  9. Great, you’re back on the page and logged in. Select which MP3 quality you prefer. Or select Wav. (That’s actually a nice touch.)
  10. Click ‘Buy’.
  11. A list of tracks you selected appears. click ‘View Cart’.
  12. Now you’re at the actual shopping cart page. Click ‘Go To Checkout’.
  13. Checkout page. click ‘Submit Order’.
  14. No wait. Even though you’re only getting one free track, which you can download, you need to fill in your entire billing address. You did that before? Doesn’t matter, I don’t remember. Do it again.
  15. Click ‘Submit Order’ again.
  16. Nope, can’t find the page you’re looking for. Hit refresh.
  17. That didn’t work either/ go back to your cart.
  18. It’s empty. Go back to the track you wanted and click ‘Buy’ again.
  19. Go to your Cart. Ah, it’s there. Repeat step 11.
  20. Repeat step 12.
  21. Glorious download page. Ignore the download with Junomanager buttons, just hit the smaller ‘Download’ button.
  22. Enjoy your free track, and thank you for liking us on Facebook, letting us know where you live and thank you for your email address. We will be in touch.

Alright, maybe I’m not actually posting a free track from Juno after all.

One month ago the first single by French artist Cajoline emerged. ‘Only Girl’, the balearic disco type of track that would end up in playlists of people such as Magician, Perseus. Big one. Last week the first remix followed the original, by Silver Kilo. Slowly evolving Disco tool with the ‘Georgy Porgy’ samples, perfect for mixsets.

On with the ancient art of eighties power balads. Brooklyn based singer LIPS does a nice cover on Paul Young’s ‘Everytime You Go Away’. As opposite to the original, sounds small and fragile, turns around the entire track. Well done.

Skiitour is two guys from Canada formerly known as Livingstone & Canosis. DJ/MC combo. When you go see them live, expect breaks, dubstep, hint of moombah, funk and hip hop. Mixtape for reference. As for own production, their latest effort is much more laid back. Get it for free on Facebook.

Honorable Mentions too. Breakbot posts one of Kartell’s tracks, titled ‘Cost of Love‘ on his Stuff-I-Like Soundcloud page. London mashupetteer Mashed and Confused posted this on Sunday, Bob Marley on an instrumental by The Cure. “Is This Love” vs. “Just Like Heaven”. Sounds like an authentic record, which is good in a mashup. Pretty much a year ago since we learned about that Stockholm duo Newtimers. They have a new EP forthcoming in January 2013. We expect more later in the year, album perhaps. Today they premiere a new free track ‘Heavy Weather‘.
