Back on! WhiteNoise, E-Dubble, Childish Gambino, I Blame Coco and more..

Apologies for the lack of music lately. But after weeks of barely posting anything, here’s a solid update. Nancy Sinatra, WhiteNoise, Childish Gambino, Ida Redig, Özgür Can, Mark Ronson, Axe, Plastic Plates, I Blame Coco, Andre 3000, Imaginary, E-Dubble and Riley Jantzen.
The Pay With A Tweet option has resulted in over 4000 tweets about the blog so far. I’m taking it a step back, making it optional. From now on you choose to post or not to post. Also made the look of the post a bit more simple, decided to go for the classic Soundcloud player. Scrolling through waveforms rocks!

I’ll start off with a few tracks you might already know. Just really like them a lot. Like WhiteNoise‘s remix on Nancy Sinatra’s ‘Bang Bang’. It has already hit number one on both Hypem and Soundcloud charts and it generated over 25.000 plays within a month. The man behind the remix is Emanuel Bender, a 22-year-old producer from Berlin who’s currently living in Arnhem, The Netherlands. He’s been featured before on the blog with the Black Ink remix competition too earlier this year. In fact, he’s a really nice guy and you should all send him cheers.

Also topping the Hype charts in the past month is Donald Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino. He’s a L.A. based MC who came out of nowhere with a few good rhymes on the Jamie XX remix of Adele’s ‘Rolling In The Deep’. At least for me it looked liked that, should’ve been paying more attention.. If you have a closer look at his Soundcloud page you’ll find tracks of over a year old. Glover has been recording his a LOT in the past year and just maybe you should go and have a listen.

Surprisingly enough, this next track hasn’t been picked up by a lot of blogs at all. It’s a re-edit by Özgür Can. He’s a fantastic deephouse dj and producer from Stockholm, and if deephouse is your thing you should definitely check out his live mixes, some are going around on the internet (Google is your friend.) His last edit is a bit different from his usual work, as he takes on ‘Alone’, a song by Swedish singer/songwriter Ida Redig. The end result is a nice and atmospheric acoustic track with a subtle rythm section in the background.

Don’t know much about this guy, his name is Andrew Banson and he’s a dj from Melbourne who goes by the name of Dj Axe. Looks like he’s fond of funk and breakbeats, which he might as well be banging his on big stages or weddings and birthday parties. I simply don’t know. The instrumental used for this mashup: also unknown. (If you recognize it, use the comment section please!) The vocals on the other hand are very well known. It’s MNDR and Q-Tip on Mark Ronson’s ‘Bang Bang Bang’ dipped in a big splash of disco sauce.

Everybody must have heard of I Blame Coco by now. She is Eliot Sumner, better known as one of Sting’s daughters. She been actively working in music since 2005 and has shared stages with La Roux, Miike Snow, Sub Focus and many more. A few months ago L.A. based producer Plastic Plates published a remix of her ”Turn Your Back On Love’. Yeah, sorry for the late discovery.

Up until now the youngest producers featured on this blog must be Madeon, who was at the time a 16-year-old French kid. Breaking the record with Harry Jones, or Imaginary. He’s a 15-year-old Drum and Bass producer from Guildford, UK. And especially considering his age, he’s pretty good too. One of his latest remixes is a nice soulful take on ‘Prototype’, originally written and performed by Outkast’s Andre 3000.

It’s just too bad that E-Dubble quit his Freestyle Fridays after one full year of putting out a free song every Friday. Luckily he’s still putting out free tracks. This one features some samples from Peter, Bjorn and John’s ‘Second Chance’, classic E-Dubble track. Oh and he’s also selling some tracks on iTunes. Wouldn’t normally tell you to spend your money but after at least 53 free tracks I think he deserves some extra money for drinks. After all, he’s not a robot you know..

E-Dubble – Where We Are

Riley Jantzen is a singer/songwriter from Enid, Oklahoma and I just felt like featuring this awesome little tune which he recorded in his bathroom. It’s called ‘Many Women’ and I don’t see why this song wouldn’t be samples, remixes and thrown back onto Soundcloud. Great little recording!
