Common, NAS, Breakbot, Washed Out, Woodkid, Beastie Boys, Foster The People and more.

It’s nice to see Soundcloud grow so much. At the moment it has over 5 million registered users, with some real big names amongst them: A while back, Nasir Jones (NAS) joined Soundcloud. Keep a close eye on his channel. Free tacks will be uploaded and taken down again after a short while. Just a few hours ago he uploaded ‘Ghetto Dreams’, a track by Common and himself.

I’ve also noticed the Ed Banger label experimenting with free music lately. In the past week the label has uploaded a few very nice free tracks to Soundcloud. The latest addition to the list is a take on Breakbot’s ‘Fantasy’ by Video Village. Part of the remix’ instrumental have been used before on an Ed Banger mixtape, so you might recognize small parts.

Atlanta’s Washed Out is about to release his debut album on Sub Pop. The album will be titled ‘Within And Without’ and will be released on the 12th of July. The first track on the album is called ‘Eyes Be Closed’, and here’s a very nice remix on it by SposhRock from Oakville, ON.

I’m pretty sure you enjoyed this video. It was created by Woodkid, also responsible for the music. Chances are that you already know it, considering the video has already generated over 2 million views. Here’s a nice little edit on that track ‘Iron’ and it’s just a little more dancefloor-proof. The edit was made by Die Swans, a remixer from Manchester, UK.

I have no idea what is up with Nashville’s Wick-It. It looks like he’s working 48 hours a day on new mashups and remixes, putting out several releases in a week. After the recent remix he did on Snoop Dogg’s ‘Sensual Seduction’ he’s now come up with an aggressive drumstepper on Beastie Boys ‘No Sleep Till Brooklyn’. Very nice remix on a classic that makes one want to throw beer at any moving object.

Wow, really had to listen to this track a few times before I noticed the difference from the original. A while back Foster The People were giving away their ‘Foster The People EP’ to promote their debut album ‘Torches’. (This is rare, but I actually think you should buy it, it is good.) One of the tracks on the EP was ‘Helena Beat’. If you’re wondering how is sounds: Exactly like the file below. All the change I can hear is that the kick is just a little heavier and it seems to be layered with some other drum elements, snares I think. Edit was created and uploaded by UK producer Suxx.
