Just A Gent – Warlock Masquerade
Hegemon is definitely a label to be excited about. The entire thing just booted up in spring of this year, the output of free releases has been tremendous. The label’s got some great talent lined up in their roster, like TroyBoy, Skrux, DIVERSA, GRMM and Just A Gent. That last guy has been sharing his track ‘Warlock Masquerade’ through the Hegemon imprint. Unpredictable instrumental track, flirts with dubstep, glorious chords.
Spice Girls – Wannabe (Icekream Trop Fresh Remix)
So this is how you handle kiddy pop vocals without sounding like a desperate overaged pub dj. Parisian Londoner Icekream chops up ‘Wannabe’ by the Spice Girls for a surprising beat titled the IceKream Trop Fresh Remix. That’s how cool this is.
Laura Mvula – Green Gardens (Djemba’s Fest Edit)
Nice to hear Laura Mvula’s ‘Green Gardens’ again. It’s already been treated by a few producers like Monsieur Adi and Sohn. And one year ago in June Djemba Djema dropped his remix. That one remix just got remixed again by Djemba Djemba for this ‘Fest Edit’. Little more aggressive, even sounds like Djemba improved his sound since the last version of this.
Blackstreet – No Diggity (Beat Fatigue Remix)
One of remixes to fall in love with, only to find out later it was made close to home. Beat Fatigue is a producer from Amsterdam with a love for Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Scofield. He works out a new track under Blackstreet’s 1996 pop classic ‘No Diggity’. Keep an eye out for updates by Beat Fatigue, there an entire new album coming up in the near future. Must follow.
